selfLove.Yoga began with one instructor's devotion to the practice — and a belief that great teaching shouldn't come with a luxury price tag.
selfLove.Yoga was founded by Barry Au-Yeung, an E-RYT500 and YACEP-certified instructor with over a decade of teaching across the Bay Area. A former software engineer, Barry left behind a conventional tech career to devote himself to Ashtanga Mysore practice and, eventually, to teaching.
"A devoted Ashtanga Mysore practitioner; teaching yoga is an integral part of my yogic journey." That devotion is the foundation selfLove.Yoga is built on — not a studio chasing trends, but a training ground rooted in real practice.
Today, Barry teaches live classes at five Bay Area studios and leads the 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training entirely online, bringing the same caliber of in-person instruction to students anywhere in the world.
Atmabhakti
Sanskrit for "self-devotion"
"Yoga is not merely about physical well-being but about nurturing a holistic balance of body, mind, and spirit."
Unlike many post-pandemic studios that prioritize fancy websites, cool shops, and decorations over substantive teaching, selfLove.Yoga focuses on real, down-to-earth guidance from experienced teachers.
Our mission is training a new generation of skilled, knowledgeable yoga instructors in the most affordable way possible — without cutting corners on depth or rigor.
