Trackmint — Sales Pitch
Date: July 18, 2026 · One document to sell the product to a customer, a partner, or an investor.
The one-liner
The work you track is the work you bill. Boards, timers, budgets, invoices, and AI paperwork — one tool, one price you can read on the website.
The problem (why)
Anyone who bills clients for their time runs three tools that don’t talk: a tracker (Jira, Asana), a timer (Toggl, or a buggy built-in), and a biller (QuickBooks, PracticePanther). Every seam leaks money. We mined 145 real user complaints about the leading tools, and three themes dominated:
- Time tracking is missing, buggy, or paywalled. Asana charges extra for a timer. Jira needs a marketplace app that bills every seat. PracticePanther’s timers reset themselves.
- No bridge from tracked work to an invoice. Jira literally cannot invoice a client. Hours get retyped into spreadsheets at month end.
- Pricing games. Seat bundles, quote-only pricing, features re-gated after purchase, cancellation mazes. Even QuickBooks plays the game: time tracking is a separate product (QuickBooks Time, $20/mo + $10/user on top of your QBO plan), and QBO prices rise every year.
Meanwhile the one AI breakthrough in this space — scanning real documents into filled official forms — exists only in one narrow niche (bankruptcy, via Glade AI) with hidden pricing and no time tracking at all.
The solution (what)
One platform, two clean layers:
Layer 1 — Tiers (the same for every profession):
| Tier | For | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Basic — $12/user/mo | Everyone | Kanban boards, work-item tracking, assignment, My Tasks, web + mobile |
| Mid — $29/user/mo | Everyone who bills | + reliable timers, rate cards, budgets with 80% warnings, expenses, MoneyFinder, one-tap & batch invoicing, payment plans, online payments |
The rule: if a lawyer’s version and a contractor’s version of a feature are the same feature, it lives here. A timer is a timer.
Layer 2 — Profession Packs (add-on, on top of Mid):
| Pack | Profession-only features |
|---|---|
| Legal: Bankruptcy | Camera/upload scan of pay stubs, W-2s, bank statements → AI-filled official forms (petition B101, schedules incl. 106I, SOFA B107, means test B122) with confidence scores and source tracing; client doc-request checklists; later: trust accounting, court deadline rules, e-filing |
| General Contractor | Job costing boards, crew dispatch, supplier-receipt scan → job costs, sub insurance-certificate (COI) expiry tracking, lien waivers with state statutory wording, AIA-style progress pay applications, WH-347 certified payroll |
| Software Dev | Sprints & backlog (optional), burndown, issue types — plus receipt scan → billable expenses |
| Future packs | Family-law disclosures (FL-150), SSDI forms, probate inventories, insurance ACORD forms, immigration I-864 — same scan engine, new form libraries |
The rule: if a feature names a specific document, court, or regulation, it’s pack-only. The AI scanning engine is built once and shared; only the output form libraries differ — so each new pack is cheap to add and opens a new market.
Why we win (the moat story)
- Nobody owns the whole chain. Asana/Jira track but can’t bill. PracticePanther/MyCase/Clio bill but have no real boards (Clio’s own users call its task management “basic”; PracticePanther tells users to bolt on Trello). Glade fills forms but can’t track an hour. Trackmint is the chain: board → hour → budget → invoice → payment → filled form.
- QuickBooks stays — we sit on top of it. Trackmint replaces the work-layer tools (trackers, timers, practice management) and syncs clean invoices into the accounting system your accountant already uses. Every winning vertical tool (Clio, Jobber, Buildertrend) proved this pattern.
- The complaint list is our spec. Every top complaint about the incumbents became a requirement or a promise.
- Eight public promises (from the anti-feature study): public pricing · no seat bundles · timers in every time plan · self-serve cancel · fast app (<1s boards) · iOS = Android · public API from day one · no re-gating.
- Payments built in at every paid tier — the proven economics of HoneyBook and 8am/MyCase: payments revenue, not just seats.
Proof of market
Every layer we touch is a growing market: project management ~$10B, legal practice management ~$3B, legal doc automation ~$1B+, PSA ~$15B (analyst estimates, 11–16% growth). Capital agrees: Clio raised at a $5B valuation, EvenUp passed $2B, legal-tech funding set records in 2025 — all on the thesis “practice management + payments + AI documents.” And the niches our packs target are unserved: ~2M SSDI applications a year with no AI form-filling; ~670K divorces a year with hand-typed financial disclosures; 919K construction firms doing certified payroll by hand.
The pitch, per audience
To a software contractor: “Your Jira and your invoice finally agree. Track the sprint, tap the timer, and month-end is one click — with your AWS receipts already on the bill.”
To a bankruptcy attorney: “Your paralegal spends hours retyping pay stubs into schedules. Trackmint’s AI does it in minutes, shows you where every number came from, and the same tool runs your matters, your flat-fee budgets, and your installment invoices.”
To a general contractor: “Crew hours from the field, receipts scanned to the right job, profitability live, and the paperwork nobody likes — pay apps, lien waivers, certified payroll — generated from work you already logged.”
To an investor: “Vertical SaaS with a shared AI engine and stackable form libraries. Land with billing (sticky), expand with packs (pricing power), monetize payments (the HoneyBook/8am playbook). The incumbents’ own users wrote our roadmap.”
Status & ask
Working prototype (desktop + mobile), full PRD v2, 30 documented user flows, competitive library of 7 tools, and a TestFlight-ready mobile codebase exist today. Next milestone: 20 customer interviews per beachhead, then a design-partner beta. (Adapt this section per audience: customer → join the beta; partner → integrate; investor → the round.)
